Our Vacation to Aspen - 8/26/11 to 8/29/11

We took a short family vacation to Aspen after celebrating Declan's first birthday. It was very relaxing with beautiful scenery and lots of fun!

We stopped in Vail on our way to Aspen on Friday and enjoyed a great lunch and a gorgeous afternoon.

Here is Harrison posing by the restaurant menu board...such a little ham!

After lunch, we found a pirate ship park!

Harrison and Declan enjoyed the scenery with Nana...

...and Harrison checked out the dog statue!

Next stop was the Continental Divide over Independence Pass...

Then we were finally in Aspen!

Downtown Aspen by the fountains...very pretty!

 The view from our balcony.

Declan had to check out the condo we were staying in and test all the drawers.

On Saturday morning we walked through the Aspen Farmer's Market....

...then we stopped for lunch and Declan tried his first dill pickle. He seemed to like it a lot!

This is a view of the place we stayed...

Declan was ready to get out and explore!

After the Farmer's Market, we went to see Maroon Bells (several mountains about 25 minutes from Aspen)...they did not disappoint! Very beautiful, especially with the reflection in the lake.

Harrison loved running around the lake area and exploring!

After the trip to Maroon Bells, we had a picnic in the park...and Harrison ran around some more!

On Sunday morning, Kevin and I went back to Maroon Bells and went on a 5-mile hike to explore the area. It was one of the most beautiful hikes I have ever done.

We hiked to Crater Lake and then continued on for awhile past the lake.

There were lots of bees on this hike!

This was our turn around point (not many people around in the morning, so I made a tripod out of rocks to get this picture).

Here we are on our way back down...we had a great hike!

After the hike, I took Harrison and Declan to a great park in Downtown Aspen and they had a lot of fun! They even got some balloons...which Declan loved!

Sunday night, we all enjoyed a delicious Italian dinner at a great restaurant that our neighbors had recommended. Great homemade pasta!

 More scenes from downtown Aspen.

Four little monkeys and a fuzzy!

 Our last morning in Aspen.

 A stop at the bakery...

...and one last stop at the park. We had a GREAT vacation!!
