Story Time - 7/24/12

Declan loves getting included in bedtime stories now! He snuggles in to listen to the stories and then doesn't want to leave Harrison's bed. Good thing his new bed is on the way!

Chocolate Chip Love! 7/22/12

"Where have you been? I've missed you so much, my friend!"

"Time for MY job! Taste testing!"

"I think more testing is needed!"

"I'm almost sure that this cookie dough will do. I just need a little more time."

"While Aunt Jane rolls out all the cookie balls, I'll just be extra sure that this dough tastes great!"

Sprinklers!! 7/19/12

After seeing the neighbors sprinklers come on this evening, Harrison and Declan convinced Kevin to turn ours on and then had fun getting soaked!

He Loves Me....I Think! 7/18/12

I'm not sure if Declan thought Harrison was hugging him or strangling him!

Staying Cool - 7/15/12

I didn't realize there was going to be a huge temperature difference between home and downtown today when we decided to go to the Children's Garden to play. According to my car reading, it was 98 degrees when I left the gardens and 84 degrees when I got home. Good thing Harrison and Declan took swimming suits to cool off in the water!

Declan had a great time climbing up and down the rocks on the waterfall.

Declan poked his straw all the way through the other end of his juice pouch, so Harrison shared his with his little brother!

Ready to head back to the water!

More Fun with Friends - July 11 & 12

Harrison and Declan had more time to play with their friends, Annabelle and Tabitha, when we met at the Denver Children's Museum! There were lots of fun things to do!

 "Row, row, row your boat..."

Counting his quarterly earnings at the Apothecary.

A picnic with the vegetables harvested from the garden.

Working in the Old Mill House.

 A room full of bubbles!

 Tabitha, the mad bubble scientist!

Declan with the lunchbox that he (or was it me?) made in the recycling center.

 The water exhibit!

"Can I hold your hand, please?"

 Water painting...what a great idea!!

More fun with water the next day.

And, a perfect little picnic for four.

Play Dates and Ice Cream - 7/10/12

Kevin's high school friends, Chris and Korren, are in town on vacation, so Harrison, Declan, and I met up with them in Boulder today for some food and fun!

Harrison and Annabelle playing on the giant snail.

Annabelle and Tabitha looking adorable on the giant bunny!

All the kids (and even some adults) were interested in checking out this little kitten that belonged to one of the street performers.

 Time for ice cream!

Declan was so interested in my ice cream cone, that I let him try to eat his own...lemon!

 Yummy!

 Oops....rocky road lemon, I guess!
I scraped off the rocks and it was as good as new.

Tabitha loved the fresh strawberry gelato.

I'm not sure if Annabelle shared her ice cream with the frog...I don't think so!!

It tastes good when you eat it backwards, too!!

Fourth of July Celebration!

We spent the Fourth of July at the Washington Park Neighborhood Celebration. It was a little warm, but Harrison, Declan and I had a great time with Aunt Jane and Uncle Doug. There was a bicycle/stroller parade for the kids, free ice cream and beverages, and lots of space for a picnic in the shade. Happy Fourth of July!

Uncle Doug helped Harrison decorate his bike and get it ready to ride in the parade.

Or did Harrison just let Doug do all the decorating, while he relaxed in the shade?

 Declan supervised the process....

 ....and inspected the final product.

He also worked on making himself look festive!

Time for a snack break before the parade starts.

"I need three water bottles! A little guy has to stay hydrated in this heat!"

"I like Harrison's bike better than my stroller!"

There was a little disagreement over who was going to ride the bike.

 And, we're off!!

Harrison made it about half-way through the parade route, when he decided he was too tired to continue on this bike. So, guess who got to carry the bike, and Fuzzy, and Bunny?

 The finish line!

Everyone got a blue participation ribbon.

 "Did I finally make it?"

Time to relax in the shade and enjoy the afternoon.

Harrison thinks it's fun to pretend that I'm a jungle gym!

Declan was a BIG fan of the free ice cream!

 "YUMMY!!!"

He also liked the pinwheels we used to decorate his stroller.

 "This is neat!"

 "Happy Fourth of July, Bunny!"

We had a great picnic at the park for lunch.

 Then, cupcakes for dessert!

 "I love frosting!!"

Then, there appeared to be a stand-off under the pine tree.
Maybe, it was the stars against the stripes!

Time to take another stroll around the park.

"Our patriotic spirit is getting tired...

...but, it was a great day in the park!"

We finished our holiday celebration at the fireworks display in Broomfield. Harrison and Declan had a lot of fun watching the sky light up.... and they slept all the way home.
