We spent the Fourth of July at the Washington Park Neighborhood Celebration. It was a little warm, but Harrison, Declan and I had a great time with Aunt Jane and Uncle Doug. There was a bicycle/stroller parade for the kids, free ice cream and beverages, and lots of space for a picnic in the shade. Happy Fourth of July!
Uncle Doug helped Harrison decorate his bike and get it ready to ride in the parade.
Or did Harrison just let Doug do all the decorating, while he relaxed in the shade?
Declan supervised the process....
....and inspected the final product.
He also worked on making himself look festive!
Time for a snack break before the parade starts.
"I need three water bottles! A little guy has to stay hydrated in this heat!"
"I like Harrison's bike better than my stroller!"
There was a little disagreement over who was going to ride the bike.
And, we're off!!
Harrison made it about half-way through the parade route, when he decided he was too tired to continue on this bike. So, guess who got to carry the bike, and Fuzzy, and Bunny?
The finish line!
Everyone got a blue participation ribbon.
"Did I finally make it?"
Time to relax in the shade and enjoy the afternoon.
Harrison thinks it's fun to pretend that I'm a jungle gym!
Declan was a BIG fan of the free ice cream!
"YUMMY!!!"
He also liked the pinwheels we used to decorate his stroller.
"This is neat!"
"Happy Fourth of July, Bunny!"
We had a great picnic at the park for lunch.
Then, cupcakes for dessert!
"I love frosting!!"
Then, there appeared to be a stand-off under the pine tree.
Maybe, it was the stars against the stripes!
Maybe, it was the stars against the stripes!
Time to take another stroll around the park.
"Our patriotic spirit is getting tired...
...but, it was a great day in the park!"
We finished our holiday celebration at the fireworks display in Broomfield. Harrison and Declan had a lot of fun watching the sky light up.... and they slept all the way home.
