Today's Trip to the Zoo - 8/11/12

Harrison has been asking to go to the zoo, so I decided that the weather looked reasonable for today, and off we went! I thought we might last 2 hours before the heat set in, but it was a surprisingly pleasant day and we ended up staying for over 5 hours! I think we saw almost everything, including riding the train and the carousel.

Harrison backed away from the glass when this lion got too close for comfort!

Harrison had an in-depth discussion with some other boys about this hyena skull. They tried to tell him it was a dinosaur skull, but they couldn't fool him... he told me they were wrong after they left.

It's hard to make out, but there is a bongo in the background that they liked.

Declan thought it was hilarious to jump out of this cave.

 Harrison was less amused.

I think Declan spent just as much time checking out non-animal-related items as he did looking at the animals. Curiosity is ruling his world!

Harrison was really interested in this elephant skull!

As you can imagine, this guy got lots of attention!

They finally got to play on this Hippo sculpture, since the metal wasn't too hot and it was a pleasant day, for a change.

Ready for the train ride...let's go!

And, a ride on a polar bear.
We had a great day, but Mommy is exhausted!
