Despite the 35 degree weather today, we bundled up and took advantage of the rare opportunity for spending a Saturday all together. We headed to the Pumpkin Harvest Festival at the Four Mile High Historic Park for an old-fashioned autumn celebration!
Lunch at the picnic tables was a little chilly...
...so, we moved over by the fire to keep warm and listen to the musicians.
Harrison loved the campfire and the music. He kept tapping his feet to the music!
Declan was a little bit scared of the open fire, but he still tried to warm up.
There were several kinds of horse drawn wagons that guests could take a ride on around the park. This was the activity Harrison was most excited about!
Time for a homemade caramel apple.
Isn't this neat? They made the hot cider and the caramel for the apples on this outdoor stove over a fire. There was also a wood-burning oven in another area where they made snickerdoodles.
And, there were apple cider doughnuts!
The pumpkin patch was a big hit, too. Declan's favorite activity seemed to be picking out the perfect pumpkin!
There were certainly plenty to choose from!
We finally chose a pumpkin and moved on to the horse drawn hay ride.
Declan kept shaking his head that he didn't want to go, but he really liked it!
Time to head home with our carefully selected pumpkin.
Goodbye to our friendly escorts, Black & Decker.
